John Einar Sandvand works as editor at Media Norway Digital. Here is more about my background.
I have long experience in a variety of editorial positions in Norway’s largest newspaper Aftenposten. Now I work in a senior management position at Media Norway Digital.
I have a dedicated interest in digital media and spend much time trying to follow the developments in this field, for instance by writing the BetaTales blog.

Some highlights
- Editor and part of the senior management team of Media Norway Digital from June 2010.
- Media Norway owns four major regional media houses in Norway: Aftenposten, Bergens Tidende, Fædrelandsvennen, Stavanger Aftenblad
- Responsible for launching and operating joint editorial digital services for the four media houses
- A number of different editorial positions at Aftenposten, Norway’s largest newspaper.
- Digital media strategist – exploring digital media opportunities for the media house
- Online travel editor – launching and running Aftenposten’s succesful travel web site
- Assistant managing editor – in charge of editorial production
- Assistant managing editor – in charge of daily priorities of frontpage of Aftenposten.no
- Asia bureau chief – stationed in Hong Kong and in charge of covering the Asian region for Norwegian readers
- In charge of Aftenposten’s Sunday edition as well as being news reporter
- I have a great interest in Asia – and tries to travel to the region regurlarly
- Author of the book “Moving mountains. A personal travel to Asia”, published in Norwegian by Aschehoug publishing house in 2005
- Currently working on the book “Smiles of pain”, a documentary from Cambodia
- Educational background includes a Master of Management from Norwegian School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Global Studies from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, USA.
