Why newsrooms should innovate

Newsrooms must innovate – and in this video slide series you get a lot of tips about why and how. The videos are made by CoPress to inspire journalists in college papers, but I think many of their points are just as valid for professional newsrooms.

The purpose of the videos is to explain to young student journalists how the media world has changed completely. Before newspapers used to have near monopoly in most markets because of the high barrier to printing. Today the internet provides a global audience almost for free – and almost everybody can start their own web site. For journalists this means that they have to rethink their professional role completely.

I found the slides inspiring – and think they might work great as an intro to discussion at newsroom seminars also in professional newspapers.
